How we teach Computing:

• In Reception teachers teach Computing through continuous provision and sometimes through focused activities.  This includes the use of simple age appropriate programs, exploring hardware and programmable toys. 

• In Key Stage 1 and Lower Key Stage 2, Computing is taught in the ICE Zone and whole class teaching. Computing is often linked to the topic of the term, in cross-curricular learning. It is also taught in the ICE Zone as a stand-alone activity to cover separate Computing Objectives. Children will explore algorithms and debugging, and looking at how a computer device and the internet works. 

• Online Safety is taught through a whole school approach, with focus afternoons throughout the year to enhance children's learning. 

• Assemblies are presented throughout the year that teach pupils about Internet Safety and how to tackle problems online such as cyber bullying and scams.

Assessment:

Teacher Assessment is used to determine the ability of the children in school. We ensure that there is progression from between the year groups so that all areas are covered at the appropriate level for each year group.

Tuesday 29th March 2022 - Year 3 & 4 Minecraft Session

Year 3 and 4 had an amazing Minecraft session today from Highways England. The children were tasked in helping construct the new A428 road from the Black Cat to Caxton Gibbet in Minecraft. They learnt about how to safely build without disrupting local ecosystems and managing noise levels as well.
